The BMI chart can be a big “eye-opener” for most people( and sometimes discouraging) but I like to sit down and look at the chart with each individual client so we have a clear understanding of where we are beginning and then we can set realistic goals for ultimate weight loss. When I first work with a client, I start by looking at what they tell me their daily routines are with food. Most of us are “creatures of habit” and taking a good look at those habits are really important in weight loss. Many of my clients have done weight loss plans that involved prepackaged entrees, (whether frozen or shelf-stable) and also included a variety of protein shakes or supplements. Recently I have become a distributor for weight loss products already on the market but want to share with you the ones that I have tried and tested and used with clients for success.

I always teach that when looking at a client's current diet on a daily basis, I always look for possibly (and more than likely) high fat, high calorie and then I can coach the client as to how to remove those items and REPLACE them with high protein, low calorie food choices such as shakes, pudding, and protein cereals. Wonderslim has a line of high protein, low calorie shakes that come in really great flavors. These also come in an aspartame free variety. These products can be made in a blender with ice and water to create a thick, filling protein shake but also the same packet can be made in a bowl with a little water to create a super creamy pudding! The flavors that I have found t be the most popular are coconut cream, dark cocoa cream, vanilla, strawberry cream and hazelnut cocoa cream. YUM!


Barwise also has a line of shake/pudding blends that come in chocolate, California strawberry, vanilla, tropical banana, etc. Both of these lines I suggest as a great breakfast option and the shakes or puddings can even be combined with fruit!

For example, I have clients substitute the ice in the blender and replace it with frozen strawberries, frozen cherries, bananas, tropical berry mix, etc. Simply add the regular amount of water to the blender and it makes a totally different taste!! I have also added the vanilla pudding mix and added any kind of fruit whether fresh or canned (no sugar) and made a super creamy dessert for a mid-afternoon snack or even after dinner. These are the times of the day when people tend to get hungry and often “snack” on foods that are full of salt, sugar, and fat such as chips, crackers, candy, cakes, etc.


Instead, try a quick pudding or shake to curb that sweet craving and at the same time, you will be putting much-needed protein that will keep you full and stop the snacking that leads to weight gain! I also have been a fan over the years of prepackaged entrees. While I understand that most popular weight loss programs send clients a box full of a week or month's worth of shakes, entrees, and snacks, these tend to work well in the duration of the diet phase. My question has always been “once the client loses the weight and stops the diet… THEN WHAT?”

I think there is a need to have prepacked things in a new client's diet to minimize the amount of effort and choices that can be hard to make in the beginning of weight loss. I think it is also important to find the right weight loss coach and Nutritionist who will teach you how to use both supplements as well as regular foods for the maximum long-term success.

There are many prepackaged entrees that are frozen on the market but I am also a fan of the ones available on my site as well that are shelf stable (don't need to be refrigerated). These entrees come in a variety of choices that are high protein and low-calorie meals. The neat thing about shelf stable is how versatile they are. They can be taken in the car, left at the office for meal options for a quick lunch as opposed to fast food, etc.!

My favorite shelf stable meals (and I have eaten all of them as well as used them with thousands of clients ) are Five Bean casserole, Vegetable Lasagna, Turkey Chili, Chicken Pasta Parmesan, Spaghetti and meatballs. Chicken Enchiladas, Pasta Fagioli, Spicy Chicken Oriental, Green Pepper steak, and even Pot roast with gravy!! I worked in medically supervised weight loss companies for over 20 years and these particular entrees accessible through my site are the very best tasting and can even have vegetables added to them for great variety and also “bulk” in the amount of food in a meal for lunch or dinner.

 

Some other great products you can find through my site are simple, easy snacks that are high in protein and can take the place of sugar and salt laden options. There are great protein bars that come in toasted coconut, lemon, cocoa mint (I love this one in the fall and winter), crispy shortbread, caramel nut, peanut butter Just to name a few!


There are other sweet treats such as oatmeal-raisin cookies, and chocolate almond brownie. There are also crunchy biscotti cookies which are great with one of the hot chocolate protein supplements. These creamy, warm drinks are nutritional the same as a protein shake but just give you another alternative by having a hot drink. Great to have as a breakfast option as well as a snack before bed! Some of the flavors are chocolate marshmallow, rich cocoa, chocolate mocha, chocolate mint, and Irish cream!
